What specific transition planning do you offer for military families?

Lynn Haven Elementary takes pride in providing a campus tour and personalized meeting with each new military family. Our school counselors team up with our military liaison to provide tours and an informational meeting to provide information and resources to our military families.

What specific academic planning do you offer for military families?

At Lynn Haven Elementary, we have two experienced school counselors and a military liaison who are available to meet with families as they transition in order to ensure our families are comfortable accessing the Florida BEST Standards, Bay District Schools Calendars which include testing windows, and curriculum pacing guides. We can meet to answer any academic questions and support transitions to new schools as well.

What resources and educational opportunities do you offer for military children?

Lynn Haven Elementary offers many types of educational opportunities including a wide-range of services for students with exceptionalities, advanced classes with project-based learning opportunities, and CTE and STEAM classes.

Lynn Haven Elementary also offers several before and after-school groups including Freedom Singers (our choir), Striking Pride (our percussion group), FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), Girl Scouts, Good News Club, and Early Act (an extension of the Lynn Haven Rotary Club).

Tell us about your student-led transition team

Lynn Haven Elementary has a Student Ambassador program to welcome and mentor our new military students. Each grade level has identified three ambassadors who are trained to provide campus tours, encourage extracurricular participation, and mentor new students as they transition to Lynn Haven Elementary. Our school counselors and military liaison oversee the program and provide additional support and resources as needed.

What supports do you offer for military ESE children?

Lynn Haven Elementary offers a wide-range of support for our ESE Military Students to accommodate their needs according to their IEP. Services include speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, an Autism cluster class, and two ESE PreK classes along with other special classroom settings and services.

What military recognition events do you have planned?

Lynn Haven Elementary is known for being patriotic and community-oriented! We celebrate our military families as often as possible! We have an annual pancake breakfast to kick off Month of the Military Child each year, we always Purple Up, and we have a special Veterans Day performance in which we honor our Veterans with a musical program and special messages from the students. In preparation for our Veterans Day event, our students create notes and works of art to decorate the halls in support of our special visitors.

How do military children access mental health services on your campus?

Military children on our campus have access to mental health services on campus and in our community. Our counselors and military liaison work directly with families to provide counseling services as needed in school as well as offer referrals for outside providers to come to school for services.
